ABSTRACT Case report of a patient with coronary artery disease and mild ventricular dysfunction who presented fatigue and reduced exercise tolerance. Clinical worsening was documented in the cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) and renal etiology was identified as a cause for the alterations on ventilatory variables. Patient initiated dialytic therapy and there was improvement in symptoms and CPET variables.

ABSTRACT Complex clinical syndrome, Heart Failure (HF) results in progressive loss of functional capacity, exercise intolerance, and early mortality. Sexual dysfunction also has a high prevalence in these individuals and presents risk factors in common with the pathophysiology of HF. It is known that exercise programs are capable of promoting positive effects on erectile function, inflammation and modulation of the autonomic system. However, currently the traditional model of these programs faces difficulties in the adherence of the participants due to […]

ABSTRACT Peripheral obstructive arterial disease is the third leading cause in the world of atherosclerotic cardiovascular morbidity. About 70% to 80% of affected patients are asymptomatic, which may delay or hinder early diagnosis. Intermittent claudication is the most common symptom. The main risk factors associated with the disease are advanced age, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia and smoking. The ankle-brachial index is considered the main clinical test to diagnose the presence and severity of the disease, regardless of the […]

ABSTRACT Brugada syndrome (BS) is one of the most common channelopathies, with a worldwide prevalence of 0.05%. It is estimated that it accounts for 4% of all cardiac sudden deaths and most patients are diagnosed only after the arrhythmic event. It is possible to find the Type I pattern by evaluating the electrocardiogram (EKG), characterized by an elevation of 2mm in the concave ST segment morphology in right precordial leads, followed by a negative T wave and the Type II […]

ABSTRACT Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the main cause of morbidity and mortality in women. One of the factors that hinders the early recognition of CAD is the clinical manifestation, since the symptoms are more atypical, and may appear as nausea, dyspnea, fatigue, epigastric discomfort, pain in dorsal, cervical or mandibular region. Women often have non-obstructive CAD associated with microvascular or endothelial dysfunction or other cardiovascular changes, which reduce the accuracy of noninvasive tests. Exercise testing (ET), one of the […]
