Presentation and Repercussion of Atrial Fibrillation Stress-Induced During Exercise Testing: Case Series
Abstract
Atrial arrhythmias triggered by physical effort are common and in exercise tests are observed both in exercise than in the recovery phase. They may be totally asymptomatic or manifest with symptoms ranging from a palpitation complaint to syncope or even cardiopulmonary arrest. There are few studies presenting the clinical presentation, the acute evolution and repercussion of atrial fibrillation (AF) exercise-induced as a complication of the exercise test (ET). This study describes three cases of exercise-induced AF raised in 59,432 ET performed between January 2007 and January 2014. All cases occurred in elderly men and exercise tests didn’t show exercise-induced ischemia on the electrocardiographic recording. All patients required hospital care and supportive treatment, which included heart rate (HR) control and medication cardioversion.
