Abstract

Chronic venous disease (CVD) is a common and progressive condition, defined by the presence of signs and or symptoms in the lower limbs related to the venous system. The clinical manifestations of CVD include discomfort in the lower limbs (lower limbs), teleangiectasis, varicose veins, edema, skin changes and ulcerations, although some patients may be asymptomatic. In view of the well-known benefits provided by physical exercises, it is essential to assess whether patients already with CVD can benefit from regular physical exercise in a preventive way or, also, as a therapeutic resource. Thus, this article aims to conduct a critical descriptive analysis of studies that address the role of aerobic physical exercises, as well as resistance or strength exercises, in the prevention and treatment of CVD.
