Physical Exercise in the Elderly in Times of Pandemic
Abstract
The quarantine period caused by the new coronavirus has significantly affected the regular practice of physical activities, especially for the elderly population who are even more in need of the benefits resulting from physical activity.
The physiological aging process is associated with the loss of skeletal muscle mass, reduction of muscle strength, reduction in bone density to the higher prevalence and incidence of sedentary lifestyle.
With medical societies already known about the various benefits exercised by the practice of physical exercises, we suggest behaviors to be adopted by this very special population, in this pandemic moment, so that they remain active even in their homes.
