Digital Health in Cardiology: Concepts and Interdisciplinary Tools
Abstract
Introduction:
In the current pandemic scenario, COVID-19 has caused more severe disease in the group of patients with cardiovascular diseases.
Objective:
Perform a literature review on the topic of digital technologies in cardiology, focusing on the definition of the normative concept of digital health and the tools and applications used in the field of cardiology by doctors and other health professionals.
Methodology:
A search was performed on the PubMed and Google Scholar platforms. The search was conducted in April and May.
Results and discussion:
The COVID-19 pandemic will result in significant and not yet fully impacted impacts on society, but it has globally highlighted the importance of digital transformation as a decision-making operation instrument. In particular, for the cardiology aspect, the framework of technological resources that involve personalized medicine in digital health brought to the fore with artificial intelligence (AI) the possibility of more accurate diagnoses and prognoses and personalized treatments.
Conclusion:
At COVID-19, the importance of digital technologies in cardiology was reinforced as a technological tool for managing complex and personalized data in health.
