ABSTRACT

Complex clinical syndrome, Heart Failure (HF) results in progressive loss of functional capacity, exercise intolerance, and early mortality. Sexual dysfunction also has a high prevalence in these individuals and presents risk factors in common with the pathophysiology of HF. It is known that exercise programs are capable of promoting positive effects on erectile function, inflammation and modulation of the autonomic system. However, currently the traditional model of these programs faces difficulties in the adherence of the participants due to the monotony, low motivation, among others. In this context, other modalities, such as dance, have been studied as a promising proposal in the context of the rehabilitation of individuals with HF. The purpose of this article was to describe and discuss succinctly the main physiological hypotheses that make plausible the use of dance as an intervention modality capable of positively modulating the sexual function, inflammation and modulation of the autonomic nervous system of individuals with HF. At the end of the investigation and reading of the manuscripts and scientific texts found, it was possible to describe how plausible the use of dance as a promising proposal in the context of the rehabilitation of individuals with HF, as an activity capable of positively modifying the autonomic nervous system and inflammatory markers, which can help in the management of sexual function, of these individuals and contribute to growth in the field of Cardiopulmonary and Metabolic Rehabilitation (RCPM) with important implications in clinical practice.
