Abstract
Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is the sum of necessary activities that guarantees patients with heart disease, better physical and mental conditions, to enable the reinsertion of these individuals in the community. Barriers are obstacles in which patients encounter to enter CR. Therefore, the objective of this study is to identify in the literature factors that interfere in patients’ adherence to CR in Brazil, through the Scale of Barriers to Cardiac Rehabilitation. To do so, the integrative descriptive review was used as a methodology, scientific articles dated from 2009 to 2019 were used in the English and Portuguese languages researched on the virtual platforms: Publisher Medline, Virtual Health Library, Scientific Eletronic Library and Google Scholar. We conclude that the factors identified as barriers were the lack of knowledge of the benefits of CR, personal and family problems, work conflicts and difficulties with transportation due to the distance from the treatment site and related costs.
